Faith-based Care Becoming Safer For Children
Religious education and fellowship for children is important. When they are sexually abused while under faith-based care, children can lose their trust in adults. They can even begin to doubt their faith. The Media has focused on the over $2 billion the Roman Catholic Church has paid in direct costs in just four years. However, it is the U.S. Protestant churches that have been hit with the most allegations. And, most of the alleged abusers are not clergy. Most of the alleged abusers are church volunteers. This makes sense. Sunday School teachers, Choirmasters, Musicians, Security Staff, Youth Leaders, and Volunteers, make up the largest group. Faith-Based Groups are in a vulnerable position. Trust in others is basic in most faith communities. No one of faith expects one of their own to do such a wrong to a child. Research shows, however, that 93% of men who sexually abuse children say they are religious. Many say they are more religious than others. Often, it is the person you trust the most who is discovered. Often, this person has sexually abused a number of children. Often, you've done the criminal background check. And, you've checked the references. THE DIANA SCREEN® protects your children in two ways. First, it screens for men and women who have already sexually abused a child. Backed by a database of over 100,000 people with problematic sexual behavior, THE DIANA SCREEN® has scientifically valid methodology. This methodology screens out people who are a sexual risk. Second, THE DIANA SCREEN® screens out people who show a very weak understanding of the importance of the sexual boundaries between children and adults. Some will have already sexually abused. Some will be permission-givers who will fail to protect the children from other adults. |

WHAT IS
|
WHAT WE BELIEVEThe people at Abel Screening are dedicated to protecting children. We believe every parent should know that their children have the greatest sexual abuse protection possible when they are cared for by others away from home. THE DIANA SCREEN®, by screening out prospective volunteers and employees who present a sexual risk, improves the child's sexual safety by an estimated 70%. For 20 years Abel Screening has been developing cutting-edge technology to keep children safe. THE DIANA SCREEN® is our sixth test. It is a breakthrough in technology - 18 years in the making - that gives child care groups a way to add more sexual protection to children than has ever been possible. Gene G. Abel, M.D., president of Abel Screening, Inc., is an internationally recognized pioneer in the sexual protection of children. The federal government has awarded him six long-term National Institute of Mental Health grants to study the prevention of child molestation. Dr. Abel has published 150 scientific articles in medical journals and criminal justice books and on the Attorney General's Department of Justice website. Now, those findings are being put to a practical use. As we work with religious and secular groups to protect the children in their care, it's important to us to form a partnership. As we work with you to protect children, we will support you with the greatest respect for your organization. We will provide the highest quality in scientific technology and immediate customer service. Together we can establish a new era in child safety. |
